Using Google Reader to Track Cooking Ideas

The Official Google Reader Blog had a great post this week called Better Cooking Though Reader-ing about using this tool to easily track interesting blogs and recipes, especially through item-level tagging.  If you have many blog subscriptions, it can become overwhelming to keep track of all the things you liked, even if you star them.

Creating tags on Google Reader lets you organize categories of interest.  For example, you can make tags for different courses, for wines, for seasonal foods, for Italian, Mexican, and Thai, or however it makes sense for you to keep track of things.  Then, say, when you’re having people over for drinks and want to make a quick appetizer, you can go to the appetizer tag to find all those great recipes you’ve run across at some time or another.

And in the event you would like to subscribe to my blog through Google Reader, I’ve added a handy button at the bottom of the right sidebar, or you can click here:  Google Reader or Google Homepage.  I added this through FeedBurner.
